Life in Congleton

We're into week 3 already here living at Giantswood. Nige spent the first two weeks working from home which was nice and this week he's away for the first time for a week in Holland on a training course.


Lily has loved and hated her time here so far, she has loved living with so many people. She loves Ricks chair rides in the office and Grandad's horsey rides. She loves going to feed the horses and see the sheep and cows. She loves Izzy the cat and Zac the next door neighbours dog. So Mum is having to pretend she loves animals too! She loves having stories from all the family and we have a lovely little flat here for her to play. Lily also enjoyed a visit from Grandma Val and Uncle Ron and Auntie Helen. They came to view a house with us.

But..her first week she got conjunctivitis, so she had sticky red eyes. Then by the end of the second week she was back at the doctors with an eye and throat infection and high temperature. Poor soul has been sick the last two nights and today for the first time her temperature has gone down (with the help of continued nurofen and calpol). So we hope she gets back well soon...for her sake and so mum can have a full nights sleep!


So the Bradwall Road saga. We loved this house from the first time we viewed it. Its a 3 bed so in the long run we'd want to extend it to a 4 bed, but its in a fantastic location for schools and town centre and friends. It needs quite a lot of work in every room so would be a project, but we like the character of the house and the size of the garden. Helen and Ron came to check out if an extension would be possible. Ron seemed to think it would and took some measurements. We checked with the planning office and there was no restrictions on boundary walls for the extension. We viewed about 15 other houses and none of them compared with the potential of this one. So last week we put in an offer on the house. After researching the sale prices of houses on the road in the last few years we put in an offer £55,000 less than the asking price. Well it was worth a chance...they laughed apparently. 3 days later we upped our offer 20,000...rejected. And then a final offer up another 12,000...rejected. We're both disappointed but at this point aren't willing to offer anymore. So back to the drawing board! Obviously not meant to be.

Good news! We had our first viewing on our house this weekend! She said she really likes it but has a few others to view yet to compare it with...miracles might happen...we'll see!
